Mystery Readers!

We had our very first Mystery Readers last Friday! Kate's wonderful parents came in to read the book Duck For President. The students enjoyed the book and enjoyed them visiting class, thank you so much!

Pumpkin Patch

We had a wonderful time at Meier's Pumpkin Patch! We went on a hayrack ride, rode a mini train, tried out the corn maze, and picked out our very own pumpkins! Then we had a blast polka-dotting our pumpkins back at school. Enjoy the pics!

Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Fire Truck

Mo Willems has been the author we have studied for the past couple weeks. We've enjoyed reading his books -- Knuffle Bunny, the Pigeon books, Elephant and Piggie --- we love them all! We decided to make an adaptation of the book Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus. We started by writing down our ideas as a class. Once we had the words just right, we drew illustrations to go with our new story. Finally, we used the app SonicPics to create our project. SonicPics is really easy to use, just upload pictures and record. Easy! I can't wait to get the iPads in our classroom and see what students can do with this type of digital storytelling. Enjoy our latest video project!

Book Picks for October

With the October book orders going home today, I thought I'd list my book picks for the month!

Since we are studying Mo Willems, the Silly Pigeon Set in the Seesaw book order gets my first pick! This pigeon is hilarious!

Sheep In A Jeep is a great rhyming book about sheep who go for a wild ride!

In the Lucky book order, my favorite is Junie B. First Grader - Turkeys We Have Loved and Eaten (and Other Thankful Stuff). Junie B. Jones books are a great choice if your child is ready for chapter books. There is also a collection of Junie B. books in the Lucky order -- perfect for a gift!

Lastly, with the election coming up, Bad Kitty for President tops my wish list. We love all things Bad Kitty, even if he's not the most well behaved cat.

In A Galaxy Far, Far Away...
