Skype Story Time!
For the past 2 weeks, we've had several special guest readers visit our classroom -- via Skype! Students got to listen to books read from all over the US and even Canada! Here are a few of the guests readers that we were so lucky to have share a story with us!
Mr. Turner - Mrs. Mathes's HS teacher and track coach. Thank you, Mr. T! He read The Diggiest Dog. Mr. Turner is from Washington, KS. |
Ryan from Calgary skyped our class, and we learned about the location of Calgary, the time and temperature difference! |
Ryan read Too Many Toys to the class. Thanks, Ryan! |
This is what we looked like to the people reading to us! |
Mrs. Mathes's friend, Bonnie, read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Bonnie is from Seattle, Washington. We even got to see Bonnie's 2 dogs, Mugsy and Regal. Thanks, Bonnie! |
Releasing our Butterflies
We had mixed feelings as we let Flutter, Furball, and Peanut fly free. We were happy that they could spread their wings and explore the world, but sad that we wouldn't get to see them everyday.
Squiggle Writing
We've been having fun the last couple of weeks using our imagination! Students get a sheet of paper with a squiggle on it. They can turn that squiggle into anything they want! Then they write about their picture.
They start with this... |
It could be a jump rope... |
or a castle... |
or a dinosaur... |
or a pirate... |
or a fancy hat... |
or a movie theater! The possibilities are endless! |
